Temporary discounts can have an effect on your full paying customers, who feel “cheated”, because your services are now offered at lower rates. They can respond as following:
- they will wait for a new discount offer from you for their next treatment and postpone
- they will negotiate a discount similar to what you offered
- they will not return as your customer, because they feel cheated
- they will complain that they had to pay too much
Don’t give discounts, but do something extra.
Loyalty Program
Instead of offering your services with (huge) discounts, it seems to be a much better idea to have a great customer loyalty program for your returning customers to make them feel special and provide them with a reward / encouragement for being a loyal customer. A VIP customer, platinum customer, gold membership with benefits has it’s advantages.
Branded Gifts
In case you want to have a special Christmas, holiday, summer, or any other (season) offer to attract new and existing customers, a special gift, present or service is so much more appealing to give than a discount and can also provide great PR buzz for your practice by sharing your action on social media, your website, (e)mail it to your customers, etcetera). Brand your gifts with your logo to create even more word of mouth, increase brand / practice recognition and making your gifts even more personalized.
